Ronnie
Gramazio was born and raised in Australia. He graduated from college with a degree
in journalism and English literature. In the late 1980s he began his career working
on local Australian public radio as a junior news reader and compiled hourly news
bulletins. Ronnie also wrote human interest articles for local newspapers. Immediately
after graduating from college, he entered the publishing industry working for
numerous independent presses in Melbourne before moving to Sydney where he worked
for such major houses as Simon & Schuster and Wiley.
His
publishing career, which spans 15 years, has included working in all facets of
the industry, from marketing and publicity to project editing and acquiring. Prior
to relocating to New York City, he was involved in the development and launch
of the trade program at Wiley Australia, where he published a number of best-sellers
including A Figure of Speech by illustrious political speech writer Graham Freudenberg
and the true crime account of a 1966 unsolved case entitled Searching for the
Beaumont Children by prolific author Alan J. Whiticker.
He
has been a Chair and moderator at the prestigious Sydney Writers' Festival, appeared
on a select panel of publishers from London and Australia at the Brisbane Writers'
Festival, and he has spoken at the Melbourne and Adelaide festivals - all major
international literary stops for visiting authors from Europe, Asia, and the United
States.
Ronnie
moved to New York City with his wife (who is an editor and writer) in 2006 and
continued to work as an acquiring editor in publishing. His role in acquisitions
led to his string of contacts within the publishing industry in the United States.
He signed Truth At Last, which he bought from Sharlene Martin at Martin Literary
Management. Written by Jon Larry Ray, the brother of Dr. Martin Luther King assassinator,
James Earl Ray, it is scheduled for publication in Spring, 2008 (Lyons Press).
This was just the beginning of his business relationship with Sharlene. In November
2007, he started work as an agent at Martin Literary Management, setting up the
New York City office of this esteemed agency; he primarily represents authors
of fiction, children's and true crime books.
He
lives in Connecticut with his wife, Vanessa, and spoiled cat, Mink, who also made
the 22-hour journey from Sydney to New York City.
